Yaya Toure to stay at Manchester City?

Yaya Toure is likely to remain as a Manchester City player for next season at least, according to his agent, Dimitri Seluk.

The 32 year old, who still has two years remaining on his current contract, arrived from La Liga champions Barcelona in 2010 and has gone on to become one of City’s most important players.

Toure’s agent Seluk insisted that the player was going to leave the Etihad Stadium in the summer following links with other top European clubs, including Inter Milan, who are managed by Toure’s former manager Roberto Mancini.

But in a recent interview, the agent said that the Ivory Coast international would stay and see his contract out which expires in 2017.

Toure has had a successful career with Manchester City, winning the Premier League in 2012 and 2014, with the F.A Cup in 2011 and the Capital One Cup in 2014.

Last season was the Ivorians personal best at the club. In addition to the League and Cup double, Toure netted 20 goals in 38 appearances.

And even though City have ‘underachieved’ this season by not winning any silverware under Manuel Pellegrini, Toure has still chipped in with ten goals from just 29 appearances, and Sergio Aguero won the golden boot.

One theory for City’s lack of success is down to their aging squad, which has an average age of 29.

Pablo Zabaleta, Martin Demichellis, Bacary Sagna, Fernandinho, Yaya Toure and Frank Lampard are all 30 or older, with James Milner, Jesús Navas and David Silva all 29.

If Toure does stay until his contract expires he will be 34, but according to Seluk, he won’t be leaving the Etihad any time soon.
