“Say hello to the bad guy”

One of the most iconic wrestlers of the 1990s has fallen on hard times in recent years as his battle with drugs and alcohol has made the former WWE and WCW superstar almost unrecognizable. There has been positive news over the last year with Hall seemingly starting to get on the straight and narrow thanks to help from former wrestler DDP and he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2014 looking better than he has for many years.

Despite his career starting in the 1980’s with the AWA it was not until the early 1990s when he began to reach superstar level, joining the WWE as the slick Latino Razor Ramon. His promo’s were one of the highlights of his early WWE days and he quickly became one of the most hated heels on the roster, all the while rising up from mid-card level to one of the biggest superstars of the mid 90s.

Though he never won the WWE title he is best remembered for his epic ladder match at Wrestlemania 10 with his longtime rival Shawn Michaels before embarking on a feud with another of his infamous backstage ‘Kliq’ the 123 Kid who would later become X-Pac. With the ability in the ring and his penchant to rile a crowd on the microphone, Ramon stood out amongst many of his peers in the business and will go down as one of the biggest WWE superstars of the 1990s.

Leaving the WWE in 1996 he headed for the bright lights of WCW where he became embroiled in their biggest angle as one half of the outsiders with Kevin Nash and forming the NWO with a heel Hulk Hogan and going on to rule the company. Unfortunately around this time was when his problems came to the surface and despite numerous comebacks in both WCW and then later the WWE, Hall’s problems became too much for him to handle and he descended into a world of drugs and alcohol with many of his friends fearing the worst.

Stints in TNA continued to hamper him rather than save him and he now finds himself largely out of the limelight, save for the odd WWE appearance. However his impact in the 1990s cannot go unrecognized and he remains one of the most missed superstars the WWE ever saw. Despite his impact on both the WWE and WCW he is in this list because he never won the big one and it could have been so much more for Hall/Ramon.
