MLS – Best Starting XI

Earlier this week, I saw an article published by the BBC giving their best MLS XI. It was certainly an exceptional team in terms of talent, but given the amount of attacking players in the side, the formation was all wrong. For example, Kaká was a left-wing-back, Steven Gerrard was at centre-back and Robbie Keane was at central-midfield. To me, it seemed confused, which is why I wanted to construct my best XI, and I think it’s a winner.

In a summer that has seen Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Andrea Pirlo and now Didier Drogba head stateside, it has become impossible to avoid looking at the talent the MLS can now offer. Even going back as recent as two or three seasons, players like Thierry Henry, David Villa and Clint Dempsey had made the move, giving one of the fastest growing League’s in the world vast publicity.

So anyway, here it is: My best MLS XI, exclusively for The Sports Lowdown:

Andoni Iraola Andrea Pirlo DaMarcus Beasley david Villa Frank Lampard Kaká Matt Besler MLS XI Nick Romando Omar Gonzalez steven gerrard Thierry Henry
