Kings Lynn Stars kept their Elite League play-off chances alive after winning 51-39 against a struggling Leicester side, keeping the Lions at the foot of the table.

The Stars have numerous injury concerns at present, with Robert Lambert and Lewis Kerr amongst the riders sidelined, so Carl Wilkinson, Dakota North and Kevin Wolbert all came into the side as they moved back into the playoffs after rivals Swindon’s home match against Coventry was postponed.

The Lions too needed guests, as Sam Masters, Josh Auty and Simon Lambert were all out.

But it was the patched up Stars that were the stronger of the two sides, and after falling out of the playoffs on Monday, the hosts set about regaining their League position.

Kings Lynn broke the deadlock in heat two when Wilkinson and Ashley Morris secured an early 5-1, before repeating the feat three heats later when Wilkinson and Wolbert eased to victory.

The Lions did manage to reduce the deficit, but the Stars regained their eight point lead after consecutive 4-2 victories.

Heat wins for Niels-Kristian Iversen, who recorded 15, and guest North in the closing stages earned the hosts a 12 point victory on the night.

Jason Doyle once again held the Lions flag high with 11 points, with Grzegorz Walasek adding ten, but it wasn’t enough for Leicester who remain bottom of the Elite League.
