UEFA Champions League Draw

The Champions League draw for the group stages has taken place and thrown up some intriguing ties for English clubs including

Premier League Champions Chelsea have been joined in Group G by Pourtuguese giants Porto, a team manager Jose Mourinho won the Champions League with in 2004, Ukranian side Dynamo Kiev and Israeli side Maccabi Tel-Aviv and should comfortably qualify for the next stage.

Manchester United made it through to the group stages with a 7-1 aggregate victory over Club Brugge and Louis van Gaal’s side who missed out on qualifying for the Champions League last season have been draw against Dutch side PSV Eidhoven, CSKA Moscow from Russia and German side, Wolfsburg.

Manuel Pellegrini’s table topping Manchester City side will hope to finally play well in Europe after recent season’s have seen them disappoint and will face last season’s runners up Juventus as well as Spanish side Sevilla and German’s Borussia Monchengladbach.

Arsenal have been given a fairly favourable draw despite being drawn with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in Group F alongside Greek side Olympiakos and Dinamo Zagreb. Manager Arsene Wenger will have high hopes of getting to the second stage of the competition.

Elsewhere in the group stages Champions League winners Barcelona were drawn with Bayer Leverkusen and AS Roma whilst fellow Spaniards Real Madrid were drawn with French champions PSG. Atletico Madrid will face a group with both Benfica and Galatasaray. Full groups can be found below.
