With England having already comfortably qualified for next summer’s European Championships, the race is on for places on the plane (or ferry) to France.

England is currently experiencing a renaissance of young talent with the likes of Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling, John Stones and Ross Barkley just a few that have become England regulars.

There are also plenty of injury concerns for Roy Hodgson which could give opportunities to more experienced players who are enjoying excellent form at club level.  So who is going to be that surprise inclusion come next season…….

1. Joe Gomez – Liverpool (aged 18)

This teenage defender, who only made his senior debut last season at Charlton, impressed enough in the Championship to earn a move to Premier League giants Liverpool. Like many others, I presumed he would be sitting on the bench, playing the occasional Cup game, forced to wait for a chance to show his talent.

Fair play to Brendan Rodgers however for being brave enough to throw the youngster into the first team picture straight away. He enjoyed an impressive debut in the 1-0 win at Stoke. With the ability to play at both left back and centre half, a couple of injuries could lead to Roy Hodgson to calling up this teenager if he keeps up his impressive start at Liverpool.
