Leeds Rhinos completed a historic treble after beating Wigan Warriors 22-20 in a thrilling Super League Grand Final.

The first ever Super League Grand Final was contested between the two sides, and this game proved to be another memorable occasion. Both sides scored tries early on, with Joe Burgess going over for Wigan before the veteran Danny McGuire got Leeds off the mark.

Leeds scored another two unanswered tries before half time, with McGuire getting his second of the match and Joel Moon also going over to give Leeds a convincing 16-6 lead at half time.

However, Wigan fought back in the second half with Dom Manfredi and Matty Bowen scoring to put Wigan back in the lead.

With just over an hour gone on the clock, youngster Josh Walters going over to give Leeds the lead. No further points were scored and Leeds went on to win the game 22-20.

The match marked the end of the Leeds’ career of Kevin Sinfield, Jamie Peacock and Kylie Leuluai. Although Super League will be worse off without them in the competition next year, it was a fairy tale ending for the trio. The close game epitomised the 2015 Super League season where a new play-off system was bought in. Super League will return in February 2016.
