The Summer break is now over and the run up to the business end of the darts calendar is upon us as the World Grand Prix roles into it’s annual October pilgrimage to Dublin.

In one of the more unique PDC darts events, featuring a double start, this tournament has been prone to causing a few shocks over the years including Andy Callaby’s shock first round victory over Phil Taylor in 2004.

The Citywest Hotel in Dublin has been the hose of the tournament since 2001 and last year saw Michael van Gerwen pick up his second World Grand Prix title with a 5-3 victory over James Wade.

Here at the Sports Lowdown, Editor Andy Moore takes us through the tournament, previewing the contenders, the dark horses as well as those debuting in the tournament.

So sit back and enjoy a bit of tungsten action from Dublin and take a look at our tournament preview.
