Red Wings Captain in reach of 300th goal

Detroit Red Wings Captain, Henrik Zetterberg, is one goal shy of reaching 300 in his career.

Once the forward scores his 300th goal, he will be the seventh Swedish player to score 300 goals in the NHl.

Zetterberg will also be joining some Red Wing greats. He will be the 5th wings player to have 800 points and 300 goals. He will join the likes of Gordie Howe, Steve Yzerman, Alex Delveccho and Sergei Fedorov.

The 35-year-old leads his Detroit team with 14 points (three goals and 11 assists) in the 11 games they have played this season. Fellow Swede, Gustav Nyquist, is second behind Zetterberg with 9 points so far (five goals and four assists).

Team mate Tomas Tatar admires the Swede and told the NHL that he would “like to play a similar game”.

Henrik’s Alternative Captain, Pavel Datsyuk, is also close to clinching his 300th goal. The Russian is two goals shy from his 300th. He already has 869 points from his 887 games played in the NHL.
