Northampton Town 2-0 York City

League leaders Northampton were the only side in the top four to play due to postponements, and they took full advantage with a win over bottom club York. The Minstermen’s Russell Penn had an early effort cleared off the line, before midfielder John-Joe O’Toole headed the Cobblers into the lead. Top scorer Marc Richards doubled the hosts advantage early in the second half, before the visitors were reduced to ten men after Luke Hendrie was dismissed for a foul on Ricky Holmes. Chris Wilder’s side extend their lead at the top of the table to five points, whilst York remain bottom.

Mansfield Town 2-1 Morecambe

Mansfield took advantage of the postponements after a win over Morecambe which see’s the Stags move to 5th. But the Shrimps took an early lead through Kevin Ellison’s low drive, but Matty Blair leveled shortly after with a deflected effort. Adam Murray’s side took the lead when Krystian Pearce headed home, before Stags keeper Scott Shearer saved Shaun Miller’s penalty after Ryan Tafazolli fouled Andy Fleming. Shearer proved to be the hero again in the second half as more were awarded a second spot kick after Jack Thomas handled, but the goalkeeper saved again, this time from Paul Mullin. The Stags held on to record back to back wins, whilst Morecambe have suffered four defeats in five.

Portsmouth 0-1 Leyton Orient

Portsmouth failed to capitalise on the postponements and dropped to 7th after Leyton Orient recorded a narrow win at Fratton Park. After a goalless first half, Jobi McAnuff’s terrific 25 yard effort was enough to earn the O’s all three points, despite Jay Simpson and Armand Gnanduillet also missing chances for the visitors. Portsmouth, who conceded a 94th minute equaliser at Morecambe on Tuesday, haven’t won in three and have suffered successive home defeats, whilst Kevin Nolan’s side move up to 6th.

Carlisle United 2-0 Accrington Stanley

Carlisle have pushed back up the table as they recorded a comfortable victory over promotion rivals Accrington. Charlie Wyke’s ninth goal of the season put the Cumbrians ahead, before Alex Gilliead doubled the hosts advantage with an effort from twelve yards. Stanley, who beat Bristol Rovers last time out, drop out of the playoffs, whilst Keith Curle’s side edge closer to the top seven.

Cambridge United 1-0 Dagenham and Redbridge

Cambridge heaped more pressure on strugglers Dagenham with a narrow victory at the Abbey Stadium. The Daggers best chance came in the first half, but Josh Coulson’s effort was cleared off the line. And they were made to pay as Joe Worrall fouled Robbie Simpson with eight minutes remaining, and skipper Luke Berry successfully converted the resulting spot kick to move the U’s up to 9th.

Wycombe Wanderers 0-1 Luton Town

Luton recorded just their second win under their new manager with victory over Wycombe. Cameron McGheehan’s speculative half volley lob over debutant keeper Ryan Allsop was enough to extend the Hatters unbeaten run at Adams Park to eleven games. Paris Cowan-Hall did have the ball in the back of the net for the Chairboys, but his effort was ruled out following a foul on the Hatters keeper. Luton, who drew at home with Yeovil on Tuesday have moved up the table, whilst Wycombe have lost three of their last four games.

Stevenage 0-1 Crawley Town

Manager-less Stevenage suffered a ninth game without a win as Crawley left the Lamex Stadium with all three points. On loan Oxford striker Patrick Hoban came close for the hosts, but his effort was saved by Jamie Jones, before Matt Harrold’s low drive sealed the win for the Red Devils. Tom Pett came close for the Boro late on but they failed to find an equaliser.
