Division 1

Surrey (483 & 166/3 f/o) vs Hampshire (648/7d)

Surrey (10 points) drew with Hampshire (12 points).

Surrey and Hampshire played out a high-scoring draw at the Oval. Jimmy Adams, James Vince and George Bailey all hit centuries as Hampshire racked up a huge first innings score. Surrey were forced to follow on despite Rory Burns’s unbeaten double hundred but were never in danger of defeat.

Warwickshire (334 & 233) vs Middlesex (334 & 234/9)

Middlesex (22 points) beat Warwickshire (6 points) by 1 wicket.

Middlesex won a nail-biting encounter with Warwickshire at Edgbaston. With nothing to choose between the two sides in the first innings, Tom Helm took 5/59 to restrict Warwickshire to 233 second time around. In a nerve-racking chase, Helm was the hero once again as he and Tim Murtagh hit the final seventeen runs required to guide Middlesex to the narrowest of wins.

Yorkshire (213 & 157) vs Somerset (268 & 281/4d)

Somerset (21 points) beat Yorkshire (4 points) by 179 runs.

Somerset picked up their first win of the season against Yorkshire at Scarborough. James Hildreth’s century set up a declaration early on the fourth day before Craig Overton and Jack Leach bowled the visitors to victory. Whilst Yorkshire’s title challenge is faltering, Somerset have given themselves a fighting chance of avoiding relegation.

Division 2

Derbyshire (368 & 214) vs Durham (301 & 285/4)

Durham (22 points) beat Derbyshire (7 points) by 6 wickets.

Durham overturned a first innings deficit to beat Derbyshire at Chesterfield. After dismissing the home side for just 214 in the second innings, Jack Burnham and Ryan Pringle saw Durham home with an unbeaten stand of 127.

Gloucestershire (141 & 137/0) vs Glamorgan (117 & 158)

Gloucestershire (19 points) beat Glamorgan (3 points) by 10 wickets.

Gloucestershire beat Glamorgan inside two days in a low-scoring match at Cheltenham. 25 wickets fell on a crazy first day. On Day two Glamorgan scrambled to 158, Liam Norwell taking 6/38 as the home side were set 135 to win. In direct contrast to the rest of the game, Cameron Bancroft and Chris Dent made comfortable progress as Gloucestershire eased to victory.

Kent (701/7d & 184/3) vs Northamptonshire (568)

Kent (11 points) drew with Northamptonshire (9 points).

Sean Dickon scored a triple century in a run-fest against Northamptonshire. Dickson and Joe Denly (182) made a partnership of 382 as Kent made 701/7 declared. Ben Ducket Max Holden and Adam Rossington all replied with centuries of their own as Northants did enough to avoid the follow on and kill the game as a contest.

Sussex (262 & 443/6d) vs Leicestershire (281 & 193)

Sussex (21 points) beat Leicestershire (5 points) by 231 runs.

Sussex kept their promotion hopes alive with victory over Leicestershire at Arundel. Stiaan van Zyl’s unbeaten 166 ensured the home side recovered from a slight first innings deficit to post a challenging target of 425. Jofra Archer took 4/30 as Leicestershire lost their last nine wickets for 100 runs.
