Analysing Arsenal’s Champion League Group

Bayern Munich – 1st in the Bundesliga

Arguably the 2nd favourites within the competition, Bayern have class oozing throughout their side and will be confident of going through as group winners. Pep Guardiola has developed a distinct style for the German side and though not all are happy with it, the results speak for themselves.

Their squad is like a who’s who of world football and though players such as Thomas Mueller and Mario Goetze have been linked with a move away from the club, they are still there and likely to be around when Arsenal come to town. In Manuel Neuer and Philip Lahm they have two legends and World Cup winners and they will go down as two of Bayern’s best ever players.

In midfield they are ran by the experience of Xabi Alonso and Franck Ribery whilst the flair is brought to the table by Arjen Robben and Arturo Vidal and they possess arguably the best midfield in the world. Add in the out of sorts Goetze and you have a formidable line up and one Guardiola will struggle to keep happy.

Up top they have the guile of Mueller who despite being sought by Manchester United, is an important cog in the German side’s success and it will take a massive fee to prize the World Cup Golden Boot winner away from the Allianz Arena.

Star Man and Player to Look out for – Robert Lewandowski

The Polish striker has been a big hit in the Bundesliga, first for Borussia Dortmund and since 2014 for Bayern Munich and last season had a better than a goal every other game ration scoring 25 in 49 appearances acroos all competitions. A deadly finisher, he is the final cog in the jigsaw for Bayern and were unlucky not to contest the Champions League final.
