Coutinho stresses that reds must maintain momentum

Speaking to LFCTV Liverpool’s little magician Phillipe Coutinho has stressed that himself and his Liverpool team mates must maintain their momentum.

Liverpool will be looking to win their third consecutive game this evening when they play Russian side Rubin Kazan in the Europa League. The Reds ended a run of five consecutive draws by beating Bournemouth last Wednesday in the Capital one Cup, and then came from behind at champions Chelsea to win 3-1.

Coutinho made a welcome return to form against Chelsea scoring a wonderful equaliser on the stroke of half time, before he then gave Liverpool the lead with just 16 minutes to play.

Liverpool’s match this evening is close to being called a must win game if they are to qualify for the knockout rounds of the Europa League.

Coutinho stressed that another victory this evening will benefit his side in more way than one:

“Battling it out with the top teams in the league, playing in the competitions we’re in. For us as a team, it’s very important we try to maintain our momentum – We can see our confidence is increasing every day. Every day the things the manager asks us to do come more naturally to us and I hope the team can play well again in Russia.”

Liverpool’s Brazilian did stress however that a victory against the Russian outfit would not be easy:

“Every team is difficult to play against – all teams have good players, all matches are very intense, so we consider this a very difficult game – But we need to be focused and do what the manager asks us to this week so we can be successful on the pitch.”
