Gary Anderson continued his amazing 2015 season after beating Michael Van Gerwen to take a second Premier League Crown to go along with his World Championship win at Alexandra Palace in January.
The ‘Flying Scotsman’ beat Van Gerwen 11-7 to pick up a £200,000 first prize after earlier beating Dave Chisnall in a last leg decider in the semi-final taking out a 116 finish to beat a plucky ‘Chizzy’.
After 16 weeks of intense play the top four players went through to the O2 Arena in London to fight for the crown and it was fitting that it came down to the PDC’s two most in-form players to battle for the crown.
Earlier in the night Van Gerwen beat fellow Dutchman, the legendary five-times World Champion Raymond Van Barneveld and defending champion 10-8 to secure his place in the final.
It was Anderson however that took the Premier League crown, four years after first winning thr trophy that gave him his first major title with the Scotsman speaking to pdc.tv “It’s four years since I had my hands on this trophy and it means a lot.The 116 was a big shot to hit to win that semi-final. Chizzy had those three darts at 32 and missed and I took out the 116.
“It’s usually me who misses the darts at a double and someone takes out a big shot to beat me but I’m taking my chances now, and it was the same in the final.
“It’s a tough season and the standard now is amazing; it’s so hard nowadays, so it’s special to win this.”
