Napoli boss Rafael Benitez is the leading candidate to be the next Real Madrid manager, with current manager Carlo Ancelotti likely to leave in the summer.
Benitez’s contract with the Europa League semi finalists expires next month, and talks between both parties have emerged.
Benitez hasn’t managed in his home country since he was the head coach of Valencia, his job before Liverpool over a decade ago.
But the 55 brings years of top European experience with him. In addition to Valencia and Liverpool, the Spaniard has managed Inter Milan, Chelsea and current club Napoli.
Benitez isn’t short of success either. He has two La Liga titles with Valencia and a UEFA Cup, followed by the 2005 Champions League, F.A Cup and Community Shield whilst at Liverpool
He also won the Supercoppa Italia with Inter, and the Europa League whilst manager of Chelsea.
