Roy Hodgson has named his England squad for the June Internationals against the Republic of Ireland and Slovenia with the inclusion of Leicester’s Jamie Vardy, QPR’s Charlie Austin and Spurs Midfielder Ryan Mason the surprising names.
Leicester’s Vardy has been rewarded for his excellent form towards the end of the season that saw him lead the line in their Premier League survival campaign, whilst Charlie Austin has been the one bright spark in an otherwise disastrous season for QPR.
Mason has seen his stock rise throughout the season commanding a regular place in the Spurs side and Hodgson will be taking a further look at the newcomer in these upcoming games.
Robert Green returns to the squad in the absence of Ben Foster and Fraser Forster and Tom Heaton is rewarded for his form in Burnley’s relegation side, though Joe Hart will be first-choice.
