Carl Froch looks set to be tempted to continue his boxing career with a fight against unbeaten middleweight king Gennady Golovkin on the cards with positive talks between both fighters camps.
Froch has not fought since his career defining fight with George Groves at Wembley last summer, where he brutally knocked his fellow Englishman out and had looked set to retire after a fight with Julio Ceaser Chavez in Vegas collapsed but the ‘Cobra’ is reported to be tempted to risk a fight with the hard-hitting Kazakh boxer.
Golovkin is unbeaten in 33 fights with the former Olympic silver medalist at Athens, known to be the king of the knockouts. St Helen’s boxer Martin Murray is the only boxer that has come close in recent fights to taking ‘Triple G’ the full 12 rounds before he was stopped in the 11th in Monte Carlo in February.
With Froch willing to risk a fight with the boxer ranked the 4th best pound for pound boxer in the world by Ring Magazine, with the Nottingham fighter’s reputation as one of the greatest British boxers of his generation secure, Froch seems to be motivated for one last showdown having brushed off attempts from James DeGale for a domestic clash that could rival that of Froch and Groves. However a potential Froch/Golovkin fight should whet the appetite of the boxing fraternity.
