Gillespie To Hold England Talks

Yorkshire Head Coach Jason Gillespie is set to hold talks with England Director of Cricket Andrew Strauss over the vacant England Head Coach job within the next 24 hours.

Tipped as Peter Moore’s replacement, the former Australian bowler Gillespie has earned himself a reputation as an exciting and vibrant coach leading Yorkshire to the 2014 Division One County Championship.

With candidates at a premium, with former Aussie batsman Justin Langer ruling himself out earlier in the week, newly appointed Director of Cricket Strauss, will be looking to appoint a new coach as quickly as possible with the Ashes just around the corner and a two-test series with the vastly improved New Zealand starting next week.

Interim coach Paul Farbrace has been given the role for the series with New Zealand and having had international experience with Sri Lanka, a win against the World Cup finalists could see the former wicketkeeper stake a claim for the job, though having worked with Gillespie at Yorkshire before, Farbrace is likely to remain as part of the England coaching setup whatever happens with the vacant Head Coach role.
