England winger Raheem Sterling is to ask Liverpool to sell him in the summer, after a season of contract wrangles has seen a stand off emerge between the club and the player.
The exciting playmaker has reportedly turned down £100,000 a week wages and will tell manager Brendan Rodgers that he see’s his future away from Anfield, with many of Europe’s biggest clubs now on red alert as they look to snap the England international up for what could well be a record British transfer record.
Sterling is likely to want Champions League football next season and if he wishes to stay in England, suitors such as Chelsea, Arsenal and both Manchester sides will consider the playmaker a top priority. Should Sterling see his future abroad there will be sides across the continent who will be interested.
Liverpool will not want to sell their star player so soon after losing influential captain Steven Gerrard who will be plying his trade in the MLS from next season and will be a headache for Rodgers who will need to replace wisely if he is to convince the Liverpool fans that he can return them to the title picture next season.
