Lewis Hamilton has inked his name on a new three year contract with Mercedes that will see him drive for the constructor up until 2018.
The contract is reported to be worth up to £27 million a year for the current Formula 1 World Champion and ends any rumours of a move to Ferrari.
Currently leading the Driver’s Championship from his teammate Nico Rosberg by 20 points, the deal will see the British driver join Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel and McLaren’s Fernando Alonso amongst the highest earners in the sport and with Mercedes again at the top of their game, it looks like Hamilton’s biggest challenge this season could well come from his own teammate Rosberg again, with the team currently as harmonious as it has ever been after a fractious relationship in 2014 threatened to tear the team apart.
With Rosberg closing the gap in the last race at the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona, Hamilton will be happy to have a clear mind for this weekends’s showpiece race in the Formula 1 calendar at the Monaco Grand Prix.
