With QPR relegated to the Sky Bet Championship, It’s no wonder that top scorer Charlie Austin is potentially looking for a move away from Loftus Road. The striker was the 4th highest goal scorer in the 2014-15 season, scoring 18 goals in the league, putting him above the likes of Olivier Giroud and Eden Hazard.
The 25 year old England striker has been linked with top flight clubs throughout the season and according to the Daily Mail has been rumoured to be linked with Liverpool, but would Liverpool be a good move for Austin? You would only have to look at Ricky Lambert’s performance this season to decide; perhaps moving to a club such as Liverpool would be too much of a step up for the striker.
Austin has also been rumoured to have been linked with a £10million move to St. Mary’s this summer according to The Daily Mail. With Southampton’s extraordinary success and potential qualification for European football depending on Saturday’s FA Cup final result, it is definitely a rumour worth taking heed of.
One thing’s for certain QPR are going to struggle immensely to keep a hold of him; a striker of his class and goal scoring ability certainly deserves a spot in the Barclays Premier League. Austin’s call up to the England squad this week will only improve his reputation and who knows, a successful England career and another season like the last will see Austin playing for one of the big four in the coming seasons, a sight I’m sure all England fans would love to see.
