Since his career defining victory over George Groves at Wembley back in 2014, Carl Froch has yet to step into the ring again and with options fading by the day, will British fans see the ‘Cobra’ excite us all again?
There is little doubt that Froch has had an outstanding career with his only losses coming against Mikkel Kessler, which he would avenge and also the dour Andre Ward who is set to fight the likeable Paul Smith rather than risk a re-match with the Nottingham fighter.
With little to excite the ‘Cobra’ in the form of a domestic clash with James DeGale who has so far failed to goad the Super-Middleweight into a fight, Froch had been hoping of one last swan-song against Julio Ceaser Chavez in Las Vegas but with both suffering with injury, the fight that could tempt Froch to return to the ring looks further away than ever.
With manager Eddie Hearn recently revealing that Froch is struggling to find the motivation to return to the ring and will only do so against an opponent he feels matches his star status, the British fans will surely hope to see the Cobra dust off his gloves for a final fight , though with his place amongst the best British boxers of all time cemented, there is little to tempt him back to the rinf
