Scotland’s Stephen Gallacher has withdrawn from the PGA Championship at Wentworth due to a persistent wrist injury.
The Ryder Cup hero had been due to partner England’s Lee Westwood and Tommy Fleetwood but will be replaced in the field by another Englishman Robert Dinwiddie, after an injection to ease the tendonitis failed to enabled the Scot to take part.
Gallacher, the nephew of former Ryder Cup Captain Bernard Gallacher, is currently at 45 in the world rankings and has finished twice in the top 5 of the PGA’s flagship event in the last five years and was hoping to go one better and seal a first win since February 2014 when he won the Dubai Desert Classic.
