Michael Van Gerwen secured his place in the Last 16 of the PDC International Darts Open European Tour event but was made to work hard for his 6-5 victory over William O’Connor.
Notable casualties on Day Two included Vincent Van Der Voort who lost to young Austrian Rowby-John Rodriguez whilst Jamie Caven got the worst of the draw, facing the ‘Bullet’ Stephen Bunting, who knocked the seed out of the event.
Other seeds to fall were Mervyn King to German youngster Max Hopp and Simon Whitlock falling to the imroving Daryl Gurney.

Afternoon Session
Steve Beaton was a comfortable 6-1 winner over former BDO player Mark Barilli with the ‘Adonis’ in red hot form to dispatch the Scotsman out of the tournament.
Benito van de Pas got the better of the ‘Gentleman Mensur Suljovic in a 6-5 thriller with van de Pas producing an impressive final leg to seal victory.
Brendan Dolan and Robert Thornton were both taken all the way in their matches against European qualifiers Robert Marijanovic and Thomas Seyler before advancing through to the next round.
Justin Pipe pipped former BDO world number one James Wilson in another final set decider before Dave Chisnall demolished the hapless Matthew Edgar 6-0 in a comfortable win.
The final two matches of the afternoon session saw Belgian Kim Huybrechts beat rising Spanish sensation Cristo Reyes 6-5 before ‘Diamond’ Ian White beat the improving Micky Mansell 6-4.
