Louis Van Gaal’s Manchester United side look to have jumped to the head of the que for Southampton’s £25 million rated midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin.
With United looking to strengthen in the off-season, Van Gaal is looking to add to his midfield by securing the services of the French international.
With Michael Carrick now aged 33, Van Gaal is looking to add extra energy into his midfield and sees the classy workhorse as an ideal long term replacement for Carrick. Though The England midfielder still has a few seasons left in the tank, adding the impressive Frenchman will be a coup after initial interest was thought to come from the North London clubs Arsenal and Spurs.
Southampton boss Ronald Koeman looks resigned to losing one of his most consistent performers and will be looking at replacements for the 25 year old. Given the amount of players that left before Koeman’s arrival last summer, the former Netherlands defender is more than capable of finding replacements, as shown this season with the Saints qualifying for the Europa League.
