2. John Stones
There will be a common theme throughout the players that we have picked that could improve Chelsea and that is the need to replicate previous Champions League success, but the purchase of John Stones from Everton is not the top priority when it comes to the young defender.
John Terry has been a wonderful servant for the Blues but like with all players father time will finally catch up with you at some point. Though we have yet to see any specific decline in the quality of their club captain, there will come a time in the not to distant future when they need to have a replacement and when they do, it would be ideal to have an experienced youngster stepping in, knowing all the team and their tactics.
Stones has been touted as England’s brightest hope in defence and though at times he can be clumsy, he is improving all the time and no disrespect to Roberto Martinez, but working under the master that is Jose Mourinho will only be a good thing for both his club and England. Chelsea are reported to have already tabled a bid for Stones and it seems likely he could be on his way to Stamford Bridge.
