Arsenal Preview

Overview – Arsenal go into the Community Shield in good pre-season form having secured the Emirates Cup trophy for a fourth time in eight events. They have also added a touch of class to their line-up this season with the purchase of Petr Cech from opponents Chelsea and he will likely be lining up for the first time against his former club on Sunday.

Though Cech has been there only major signing of the summer so far and a certain upgrade in their back line, it is going forward that they ooze with class and it is sometimes hard to know what Arsene Wenger’s best team is. With the likes of Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey and Santi Cazorla plus many more, healthy competition at the Emirates is assured for next season and they once again look like could challenge in the upcoming season.

Team News – Alexis Sanchez is set to miss out after his exploits in the Copa America in the summer have left him fighting for fitness for the new season. Danny Welbeck will also not line up at Wembley as he battles to overcome a knee injury that kept him out of the back-end of last season.

  • The FA Cup Winners have only won one of the last five matches with the Gunners winning last season in a 3-0 victory over Manchester City.
