Aston Villa have signed Ghanaian striker Jordan Ayew from Ligue 1 strugglers Lorient.
The 23 year-old, who’s arrival was all-but confirmed on Monday by Villa assistant boss Ray Wilkins, arrives at Villa Park just a number of weeks after his brother Andre signed for Swansea City.
The Ghanaian has signed a five year deal with last season’s beaten FA Cup finalists after passing a medical and agreeing personal terms.
Villa boss Tim Sherwood was delighted with his latest recruit, particularly after two of his star players in Fabian Delph and Christian Benteke had left the club last week.
Ayew, who began his career at home club Marseille with his brother, netted 12 goals last season for Lorient, including a brace in a 5-3 win over Marseille, as his side avoided the drop with just weeks to spare.
The fee is undisclosed, but it is believed to be in the region of £9 million. Ayew, who has made just under 30 appearances for Ghana, will join up with fellow new signings Jordan Amavi, Idrissa Gueye and Micah Richards.
