Is Manchester United’s spending good for the long run?

Memphis Depay is a good player, in my eyes, but the Premier League is a much different kettle of fish than the Dutch League. Depay has all it takes to be a quality player in England, but it is also important to keep it in the back of your mind, he could also end up as another Nani.

Matteo Darmian could actually prove to be the smartest buy this summer, as if he performs well he could fill he gaping whole left at right-back since the departure of club legend and pundit Gary Neville. It’s very rare that a good right-back comes along, so Darmian might be a top buy.

What i’m trying to get at with this is, despite the fact it will be exciting to see one of the greatest Germans ever play in our Premier League, you have to evaluate the worth of him, alongside either Michael Carrick, who doesn’t have much life left in his legs as it is, or Morgan Schneiderlin, who apparently Van Gaal didn’t even want!

What I am writing here could be looked at when the season ends next May and people may laugh at what im saying, or you could look at think “maybe we should have Tom Scholes as the New Chief Executive of Manchester United”. Wishful thinking? Thought it was.
