Arda Turan has joined Spanish giants Barcelona on a five year deal after snubbing a move to the Premier League.
The defensive midfielder has left fellow Spanish side Atletico Madrid for a fee believed to be around £34 million pounds with incentives that could increase that fee by a further £7 million.
English champions Chelsea had been reported to have bid for the Turkey international who would have competed with Nemanja Matic for their role in front of the back four, but had opted to join Luis Enrique’s side where many will see him as a replacement for the departed Xavi.
The 28 year old joined Atletico Madrid in 2011 from Turkish side Galatasaray and played over 100 games for Diego Simeone’s side and he is nearing 100 caps for the national side.
