Youth player Joe Dodoo made his dream debut for Leicester City on Tuesday night as he scored a hat-trick in the 4-1 win at Bury.
The 20-year-old has impressed in the Under-21 side and first team manager Claudio Ranieri decided he had earned his call up for the League Cup game at Gigg Lane.
It didn’t take the youngster long to show what he’s all about as he scored a majestic solo goal; flicking the ball over a defender before firing the ball into the top corner in the 25th-minute.
Dodoo showed a strong partnership with fellow academy graduate Liam Moore throughout the game. There was some excellent link-up play between the two players with Dodoo on the right-wing and Moore just behind him in defence.
His attitude towards the game was just what was wanted of him, offering attacking threat whilst carrying out his defensive duties as well.
With a lot of talk of Leicester looking to buy a winger to backup Riyad Mahrez and Marc Albrighton, Dodoo has put his name up there to contend for a place in the first team squad.
He scored two goals in the final five minutes, beating the defender on the right before slotting home for his second and calmly finishing in the box after Leicester capitalised on a goalkeeping error for the hat-trick.
It was fitting that Dodoo’s third was assisted by Jeffrey Schlupp, who also scored a hat-trick on his debut for the Foxes against Rotherham in the League Cup back in 2011.
Not only does Dodoo have a great deal of ability but he has a mature head on his young shoulders. He was the first player to pull Liam Moore away following an altercation with some Bury fans indicating he could become a complete player in years to come.
Leicester City now face a home fixture against West Ham United in the third round and Dodoo has certainly put himself in contention for another call-up.
