James Wade, Michael van Gerwen, Phil Taylor and Gary Anderson all booked their places in the semi-finals of the Perth Darts Masters on quarter-finals night in Perth.
Englishman Wade kicked off the evening with a convincing win over Peter Wright, who never found his rhythm in the first quarter-final of the evening. Wade raced into a 4-1 lead, and despite taking out 126 in the sixth leg, Wright never mounted a serious comeback as ‘The Machine’ booked his place in the semi-final with an 8-2 win.
Michael van Gerwen and Raymond van Barneveld faced off in the second match of the evening, and the match was level going into the first break at 3-3, but then van Gerwen placed his foot on the accelerator and fired in two twelve-darters and one eleven-darter to move 6-4 up, and the World number one secured the victory in the final two legs, winning 8-4.
Home favourite Kyle Anderson started strongly in his match against Phil Taylor taking the first leg with the throw, but the legendary sixteen-time World Champion managed to record a 4-2 lead going into the break. The Aussie never recovered after that as Taylor went on to take the match 8-4 and move into the semi-finals.
In the final match of the evening, Gary Anderson produced a sensational comeback to set up a semi-final tie with Phil Taylor. The Scotsman started slowly, and Lewis capitalised, taking a 6-1 lead. But Anderson wouldn’t give in, and reeled off five consecutive legs to level the match at 6-6. The two-time World Champion Lewis took out 124 to move within one leg of victory, but missed match darts as Anderson won the deciding leg to win 8-7.
Phil Taylor will play Gary Anderson in the first semi-final of the night in a repeat of the World Championship final, and James Wade will take on Michael van Gerwen immediately after, a repeat of the World Matchplay final.
