Tempting the Cobra: Who could make Froch un-retire?

Carl Froch had a glittering career as a multiple super-middleweight champion, with massive fights both home and abroad. His last fight would be hard to top, as he recorded his final KO victory against George Groves in a capacity filled Wembley Stadium.

Froch was voted Fighter of the Year for 2012 by WBN (World Boxing News) and BoxRec. His professional career spanned fourteen years until his retirement in 2015 however some athletes have trouble staying retired, and Froch could be tempted back into the fray one more time for a final glory fight.

Here at the Sports Lowdown, we picked our top five fighter that could coax Carl ‘The Cobra’ Froch out of retirement and back into the squared-circle.

1. Arthur Abraham

To start this list, we had to have a look at the most possible contender if Froch was still in the game. Abraham is currently rated in the top three of most Super-Middleweight rating lists and the 35 year old could soon be nearing the end of his career. Frock and Abraham have fought once before, and Abraham lost by Unanimous decision and these is a fight that Abraham would agree to.

The most likely downfall of this fight would be where the bout would take place. Last time they clashed, they fought in Helsinki, Finland. I know that only three places could realistically make Froch come out from retirement. Those would be either in his hometown of Nottingham, further down south in the capital London, or the most likely Las Vegas. Froch has always said he would like to fight in Vegas and realistically if he were to have one last fight, he would want to do it in Vegas. The player is one who could coax him from retirement, but the place may cause the biggest issue with an Abraham fight.
