After only signing Petr Cech in the summer transfer window the Arsenal squad seems short of competing for the Premier League title this season, however if they improve their squad in the January transfer window they may be able to push for the title in the second half of the season.

Here are 5 players they could target who would turn them into true title challengers.

1. Edinson Cavani
The PSG striker is a proven clinical goal scorer. And that is exactly what Arsenal need. The Gunners have lacked sharpness upfront since the departure of Robin Van Persie and have had strikers such as Olivier Giroud, Lukas Podolski and Danny Welbeck as replacements for their former captain which have not been as successful as they would like. Cavani on the other hand would offer the North London club a touch of class upfront which they have missed.
The 28 year old caught the eye of many big clubs in his time with Napoli, where he scored 78 goals in 104 games. PSG were the team to capture the Uruguayan’s signature in 2013, he had a very promising first season in French football scoring 25 goals in 43 games and was a key player in helping PSG win Ligue 1 that season. He then impressed the following season scoring 31 goals in all competitions.
Although he has had a very successful career with PSG so far, it is said that he is unhappy at the French club due to him being played out of position on the wing and. So could Cavani find himself playing in the Premier league come January?
