2. Stoffel Vandoorne

Vandoorne, 23, is from Belgium and is another young prospect. Who is currently driving for ART Racing in GP2, the feeder series to Formula One. He is dominating the GP2 standings, sitting handsomely at the top. He also has ties with McLaren after being their reserve driver for the 2014 season. He appears destined for the top.

Appointing Vandoorne would perhaps be somewhat of a risk, but McLaren aren’t afraid to hire unknowns in the past, to a varied degree of success. Fernando Alonso may enjoy his appointment, seeing him as someone he can mentor.  Similarly too Magnussen, his inexperience may not be appropriate in the current state the team is in.
