Chelsea goalkeeper Thibault Courtois has sustained a knee injury that will keep him out of action for the next few months.
The goalkeeper injured his medial knee ligaments whilst on international duty with Belgium and manager Jose Mourinho confirmed in his pre-match press briefing before the Everton game that Courtois would be out for “quite a long time.”
The Belgian international played a big part in the Blues Premier League title winning side last season displacing veteran Petr Cech in the side and the Stamford Bridge club will now look to summer signing Asmir Begovic to take over the reigns.
Mourinho told the press briefing “It is a big blow, it is not easy to have the best goalkeeper in the world injured.
“I’m very sad for Thibaut and the team but we have a top keeper and Begovic will be in goal.”
