Manchester United have completed the signing of Anthony Martial for a staggering £36 million from Ligue 1 side Monaco on a four year contract with the option for a fifth year included.
The youngster becomes the most expensive teenager ever with the fee likely to rise to a whopping £58 million in the future. Martial only joined Monaco two years ago for £4.4 million from fellow Ligue 1 side Lyon who left in a clause meaning they are likely to receive a hefty sell-on fee for the French under-21 international.
Martial played in 46 games for Monaco across all competitions last season chipping in with a respectable 12 goals but with the fee paid out for the striker, they are likely to want a much bigger return at Old Trafford. Often compared to former Arsenal and France legend Thierry Henry, the youngster was allowed to leave the French Under-21 squad to seal the move to play under Louis van Gaal and will link up with his new teammates on his return from international duty.
Martial joins a Manchester United side who are looking to add firepower to their squad after the departure of Robin van Persie in the summer and with Adnan Januzaj sent out on loan to Borussia Dortmund, Martial will look to play a big part in the remainder of the season for the Red Devils.
