Terry Jenkins celebrated his 52nd Birthday in style at the Barnsley Metrodome as he beat Peter Wright in the final of Players Championship 15 6-4 to scoop the £10,000 prize as the race for World Grand Prix qualification continued.
‘The Bull’ saw off Jim Walker and Colin Lloyd in last-leg deciders in the first and second rounds before beating Andy Smith in the third round. The last sixteen saw him face Daryl Gurney, who he beat 6-3 to set up a quarter-final clash with Brendan Dolan, who he brushed aside 6-1. Peter Wright was his final opponent of the day, and make sure of the victory in Barnsley, averaging an impressive 108 for a special Birthday Barnsley win to see of ‘Snakebite’ 6-4.

As it stands, in order to qualify, Jamie Caven will need to earn at least £1,000 more than Joe Murnan, Keegan Brown or Mark Webster. That means that he will need to make the last sixteen to stand a chance. If he makes the last sixteen and one of those three players fails to make it through to the third round then Caven will qualify.
Raymond van Barneveld picked up £250 whilst challenger for a seeded spot Vincent van der Voort picked up £0 as he was knocked out in the first round. With a decent run tomorrow, Barney’s Grand Prix place will be as good as guaranteed.
