Bradley Wiggins will ride the Tour of Britain for his own cycling team, Team Wiggins in September, with Mark Cavendish also set to ride in the race.
Wiggins left Team Sky in 2015 to set up his own team after losing the role as head of the team to Tour de France winner Chris Froome and the 35 year old will now compete in Britain’s premier race which finishes on the 13th September.
Wiggins is keen to switch his focus to the Rio Olympics in Brazil next summer but first will give his team a run out on the roads of Britain leading a team that includes Owain Doull, Michael Thompson, Jonathan Dibben, Andy Tennant and Chris Lawless.
Cavendish the sprinter from the Isle of Man will also take part alongside his Etixx-Quick Step team and will want to put in a performance as he will likely also devote his time to preparing for the 2016 Olympics.
The Tour of Britain starts in Anglesey on Sunday before concluding in London a week later.
