After the announcement from Sunderland that manager Dick Advocaat had left the club, The Sports Lowdown looks at five possible replacements for the Premier League side.
Sam Allardyce
Former Black Cats player Sam Allardyce spent a season at the club in the early 80’s. As a manager, Allardyce brings 14 years of Premier League experience from his time at Bolton Wanderers, Newcastle United, Blackburn Rovers and West Ham United.
Despite his connection with Sunderland rivals Newcastle, Allardyce would be a great appointment, and was unlucky to lose his job at West Ham in the summer after an impressive campaign with the Hammers.
