The Reds will need to improve their defence to put up more of a challenge against Premier League opposition and this is one of a few problems Klopp will need to iron out. They have been linked with Inter Milan’s Ranocchia who has been with the Serie A side since 2011, but the centre-back has fallen out of favour with Roberto Mancini. Ranocchia is valued at around £7 million and he is renowned for his strong tackling and aerial ability, something which would be needed in a Liverpool back line which is lacking reliability and strength.
In addition to being the Inter captain last season, he has also made 20 appearances for the Italian national team. At 27-years-old he would be open to a move to the Premier League as he doesn’t seem to be in Mancini’s plans for a future in Italy’s top flight. Ranocchia has won the Serie B title with Bari and the Coppa Italia with Inter, as well as being named in the Serie A team of the year in the 2010-11 season. He would be a great addition to Liverpool’s squad to give them more of a physical presence on the pitch.
