5. Luke Shaw
After a debut-season filled with injuries and only 16 appearances in the Premier League, the 20 year old left-back looked eager to prove himself this season. He also got off to a great start, combining well with Memphis Depay in attack, and most importantly being one of the key figures in a United defence with four clean sheets in the first seven games.
However, a reckless tackle from PSV’s Hector Moreno put a stop to the success, breaking Shaw’s leg and setting him out of action for at least six months. The former Saints player already seems to be missed on the pitch as United’s defence have looked more shaky and have conceded 8 of their 12 goals since his injury.
