Liverpool Ladies have moved quickly to replace outgoing manager Matt Beard, appointing his assistent Scott Rodgers as his successor for Women’s Super League One side.
With manager Beard announcing in the run up to the end of the season that he was taking a job with US side Boston Breakers at the end of the season, the Anfield hierarchy have chosen to keep the continuity of the last couple of seasons as much as possible with the appointment of Rodgers.
With one Rodgers departing just a few weeks back, Liverpool Ladies, who won the 2013 and 2014 Super League titles, have appointed another Rodgers to the role. The former Blackburn Rovers Ladies manager has been assistant to Beard at Anfield for three years and moves into take the hot seat.
The 29 year old Rodgers said “I am absolutely delighted to have been given the opportunity to manage Liverpool Ladies,
“Having worked under the stewardship of Matt for the past three seasons, I know what a great club this is and cannot wait to get started.”
