It couldn’t have been any other that the famous Marlboro McLaren of the late 80′ and early 90’s, could it? For a lot of people, us included, the MP4/4 and MP4/5 are THE quintessential Formula 1 cars. The MP4/5 being the epitome of Formula 1 perfection, it just can’t get prettier than this. The simple red and white paint scheme that became legendary for its simplicity and functionality applied to a downright gorgeous chassis became the symbol of Formula 1’s golden era, marked by the neck and neck battle for the title between the the likes of Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost. In 1989, it was Prost who claimed the championship driving the MP4/5. A year later, Ayrton Senna won his second world title in the updated version of the car, the MP4/5B. Words cannot describe the beauty of this iconic car as it surely has a place in the heart of every die-hard Formula 1 fan out there. Some may argue that the MP4/5’s predecessor, the MP4/4 known by being statistically the most dominant F1 car ever, deserves the top spot and this is perfectly understandable. After all, there’s not that much that separate the two legendary machines visually and it all comes down to preference.
