10. Benetton B195
A joint design by the renowned F1 designer Rory Byrne and technical director Ross Brawn, the Benetton B195 was the car that famously won Michael Schumacher his second world championship and the teams’s first ever constructors title in 1995. Things didn’t go smoothly over at the beginning of the year, however, as the team experienced numerous problems mainly because of the switch from Ford to Renault power for the 1995 season. In the first three races both Schumacher and his then-teammate Johnny Herbert were struggling to keep the twitchy and highly unstable car on the tarmac, losing time to the much more planted Williams cars. In a turn of events, at the following race in Spain, the Benetton B195 suddenly became the fastest car on the grid. Schumacher subsequently won that race and other seven that followed, clinching both championships by a significant margin. The B195’s design was similar to that of many other cars from the mid 90’s era but differentiated itself with its stunning livery, smart use of logos and effective blend of main sponsor Mild Seven’s white and blue and Bitburger’s yellow colours.
