7. Ferrari 312T2
If you’ve seen the movie Rush, this one should look familiar to you. That’s right, the 312T2 is the car Niki Lauda drove in the 1976 and 1977 F1 seasons. A member of the Ferrari 312T family of cars used by the Maranello outfit from 1975 to 1980, the 312T2 was a modified version of the 1975 championship winning 312T. The 312T2 modification, in particular, won the constructors title in 1976 and 1977. However, Niki Lauda famously lost the 1976 driver’s championship by a single point to McLaren’s James Hunt, after the Austrian missed two races because of his infamous Nürburgring accident. Arguably the best-looking F1 car of the 70’s, the 312T2’s bodywork and bright red and white paint scheme just screamed beauty and sleekness. The “NACA shaped” air intakes on the sides of the cockpit and the removal of the distracting airbox behind the driver seat complemented the overall design and made the already aggressive looking car look even better.
