Over the years there have been many cricket players that were born in land’s that they chose not represent as a cricketer, with a high number of players, particularly from South Africa choosing to ply their trade due to quota systems or apartheid issues.
Of course it doesn’t just affect England with many other players opting to play for the country they now reside in rather than that of their birth country. Players such as Kepler Wessells would initially play for Australia before returning to his native South Africa once they had been re-admitted to world cricket, whilst others like Andrew Symonds was born in England but lived in Australia for the majority of his life. In recent times we have seen Luke Ronchi move across to play for New Zealand just a few years after playing international cricket for Australia.
However at The Sports Lowdown we take a look at 10 cricket players who have played for England over the last 25 years, yet were born in another country.
