No. 1 draft pick from 2015, Connor McDavid, will be out for a long period after sustaining a broken collar bone in Tuesday’s game against Philadelphia Flyers.
The Edmonton Oilers forward was checked into the boards last night after attempting a shot on goal, causing the 18-year-old to receive an upper-body injury keeping him out of the rest of the game.
McDavid has scored 5 goals this season and has 11 assists in 13 games. He was also named NHL’s rookie of the month for October on Monday.
McDavid is expected to have surgery Wednesday. Oiler’s General Manager, Peter Chiarelli, said there is no exact time for McDavid’s time out, however it will be a long period.
