Angry Irishman Roy Keane has a lot of opinions. The former Manchester United captain is as blunt as they come with pundits and he has plenty of bite, just not for his tongue.
This week he has branded Wayne Rooney ‘awful’ after the current United captain put in another, shall we say, underwhelming performance in a goalless draw with PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday’s night.
Let us admire Keane’s exact assessment of the under-fire Rooney: “He doesn’t look sharp, he looks awful.
“Mentally he doesn’t look really sharp; physically he doesn’t look in great sharp, he needs to have a look at himself.”
So in honour of Keane’s latest curt comments, here are five other of the hardman’s best putdowns.
Keane v Ashley Young
Yeah so Keane really doesn’t like Ashley Young. In 2011 he was bemused by all the fuss surrounding Young’s arrival on Manchester and then in 2013 labelled him simply ‘not good enough’. The United winger took a tumble in the penalty box during a Champions League encounter with CSKA Moscow last year and Keane was relentless after the game.
“I think the guy’s a disgrace and if he’s a Man United player I’m a Chinaman,” Keane said on ITV.
