After their 4-0 thrashing at Southampton, Arsenal bounced back with a 2-0 victory over Bournemouth to put them top of the league for at least 24 hours.
Mesut Ozil was particularly pleasing on the eye, as he has been all season. Picking up a goal and an assist to help his side take away all three points. The German playmaker has now registered 16 league assists, and is on the verge of beating Thierry Henry’s assist record, which stands at 20. It looks as though the £42.5 million man has finally settled in at Arsenal, and is taking full responsibility for creating chances in the Arsenal team. His superb form has been the key to Arsenal’s success so far this season. Is the inform Gunner the best in the Premier League?
Arsene Wenger made several changes to his starting 11, one being the inclusion of Calum Chambers. The 20 year old took the place of holding midfielder Mathieu Flamini, and it is fair to say he did a very good job. The Englishman kept it simple, remained disciplined and went forward when necessary. There are question marks over whether another midfielder will be brought into the club in the January transfer window. Chambers performed well on this occasion, however his lack of experience would suggest signing another midfielder would be the better option.
What next for Arsenal?
The Gunners face Newcastle at home in their next Premier League fixture, which looks like an easy three points on paper. However their fixtures following this game are not so easy. They face trips to Liverpool and Stoke, which are then followed up with a home fixture against Chelsea. If Arsenal are to be considered for the title, they must ensure that they are on top of their game in the upcoming games. Therefore will have to put in much better away performances than they did against Southampton.
